Tradeskills Overview

Crafting in Dark Age of Camelot is a staple of the economy, and useful for a great many thing. Tradeskills are especially used for templating players for RvR. Here you will find a short overview on our tradeskills.

Crafting uses a skill point system where you gain skill points by crafting, and the more skill points you have, the higher level gear you will be able to craft. As a general rule, you will need around 1050 to 1100 to craft the high end gear. Gaining skill points is really easy, you simply craft items of color in your chosen tradeskill (grey con items will not yield skill points), with the most popular to craft for skill points being orange con items.

Crafting is broken into different tradeskills, and you decide to level one or all. Keep in mind that you can gain skillpoints in all tradeskills on the same character. A popular choice by players is to have one character dedicated to crafting and skilled in all tradeskills.

Tradeskill Description Crafting Station
Alchemy Alchemy gives players the ability to craft potions, dyes, and tinctures. A potion is basically a bottled spell, which will cast itself upon the user when consumed. Dyes can be used on armors, shields, and cloaks to change their color. Tinctures are used to place special spells on other crafted items, in the form of charges, procs, and reactive procs. Alchemy Table
Armorcrafting Armorcrafters from the different realms use the strongest materials available to produce heavier armors, such as chain or plate. An Armorcrafter's final product may be magically enhanced through Spellcrafting. Forge
Fletching Fletching focuses on the creation of bows, staves, and musical instruments. The archer classes (Scout, Hunter, and Ranger) may find this craft the most useful as they can craft bows to use as their ranged weapon of choice. Lathe
Spellcrafting Spellcrafting gives players the ability to craft magical gems that imbue their armor and weapons with enhancements to various skills and attributes suited to one's character. Alchemy Table
Tailoring Lighter types of armor, such as Cloth and Leather, may be crafted by the Tailors of the Realms. Tailors use various cloths and leathers to craft armor for casters, rogues, and other light tank classes. Much like Armorcrafting, the products of a Tailor may also be spellcrafted to become many times more powerful. Anywhere
Weaponcrafting Weaponcrafting focuses on creating powerful weapons such as swords and spears. The weapons created by Weaponcrafters may also be spellcrafted to become more powerful. Forge
Siegecrafting Siegecrafting was completely revamped and fleshed out into a full tradeskill in version 1.90. Recipes now range from 5 to 1000 skill, covering everything from weak, makeshift devices to fully fortified engines of war. This even includes a few infernal devices discovered by making use of Demon Seal Fragments scattered across Agramon Island. Anywhere
Bountycrafting This is a special type of crafting that lets you craft high end gear using bounty points gained through RvR, questing, and general adventuring. Materials are purchased at special merchants in the frontier relic towns. Anywhere

Sub Tradeskills

these generally level up in conjunction with above main tradeskills (except bountycraft)

  • Metalworking
  • Leatherworking
  • Clothworking
  • Gemcutting
  • Herbcraft
  • Woodworking

The sub tradeskills do not as such produce usable items, but are used for small items such as mount items (armor, bardings, saddles) and trinketing.

Trinketing

Trinketing turns common materials into slightly more valuable products. As an example, you have a bunch of arcanium metal bars you gained from salvaging weapons found during your adventures, you can then craft an arcanium hinge and sell that for a profit.

Now, once you have decided what craft you want to level, leveling is really easy.

  • To find your craft, open your skill window (default key: P) and look at the bottom of the skill window called "Tradeskills".

  • Using Weaponcraft as an example here, click on the icon to the left and put it on your quickbar with drag and drop.

  • Now click the icon. This opens up a list of what you can craft in expanding lists.

  • Browse the list and find an item that is orange con, drag and drop that icon of that item to your quickbar.
  • Now you are almost ready to craft, but you will first need crafting materials for this item! These are often items you buy at merchants dedicated to crafting materials which you can find in the capital cities, or if you have a house, you can buy merchants to add to your house. You can check what materials you need by right-clicking the item in the list or on your quickbar.

  • Some items require you to be near a crafting station, such as a forge or an alchemy table, simply stand by the station needed as per the table above.
  • Now that you have all the materials you need, and you are near a crafting station, simply hit the icon on your quickbar of the object you want to craft and you will start crafting. At lower levels the process bar goes really quick, but as you level up, higher level items will take longer to craft.

You should now gain a skill point if the item you crafted was not grey con. A skill point gain is not always a guarantee, sometimes it takes a few tries. As a rule of thumb while leveling, you want to craft orange con items, so when what you are crafting turns yellow in the list of items to craft, replace it with one that is orange con.

Don't forget to take advantage of bonus events where crafting in the capital cities and housing gain bonuses to craft speed and skill point gain! There is also an additional guild bonus for crafting you can turn on using the command /gc buff crafting. You will need to have the guild permissions to use this buff, or ask someone with permission to enable it for you.

That's it! Just decide what tradeskill you want to level up, and get to work :)

Bountycrafting

Bountycrafting is a means of spending your bountypoints (earned through RvR or quests) on high-end gear that is otherwise only available through questing and/or seasonal rewards, so it is a great way to finish off your perfect template with just the item you are looking for.

To craft an item, the process follows the exact same procedure as crafting any item; open your skill window (default key: P), browse to Bountycraft and drag and drop the icon to your quickbar.

Click the Bountycraft icon on your quickbar and locate the item you wish to craft and drag this onto your quickbar as well.

Now you can right-click the item and a delve window will appear, showing you the materials needed to craft the respective item.

Using Midsummer's Triumphant Wrap as an example, a seasonal event ring, you can see it needs:
  • 4 Stardusts
  • 15 Bounty Accessory Molds
  • 1 Recipe: Seasonal
  • 4 Ancient Giant Bloods

Most items in Bountycraft need stardusts, bounty (weapon, armour, or accessory) molds, a recipe, and an alchemy crafting drop (such as the Ancient Giant Blood for the Midsummer's Triumphant Wrap). All but the bounty Molds are tradable, so you will personally need to have enough bountypoints to buy those, though the rest can be bought from other players, in housing, or farmed in the case of the alchemy crafting drops. One thing to note about when you are purchasing the bounty molds, you can only buy stacks of them according to your realm rank, so if you are realm rank 1, you can only buy one at a time, up to as how many of them you need. Stardusts are special items you can buy either in housing, have an alchemist craft for you, or purchase from the alchemy merchant in the capitol cities

Now, let's continue crafting the Midsummer's Triumphant Wrap.

Once you have all items (the molds, the stardust, the recipe, and the alchemy drops):
  • Find a forge (in your house, capital city, or relic town)
  • Click the Midsummer Triumphant Wrap on your quickbar

And voila! Your ring is now in your inventory :)
