Grab Bag - September 12, 2008
Welcome to the Friday Grab Bag!
My GM was experimenting with trying to find a new look for our guild emblem. He accidentally clicked on the wrong one and now he can't seem to change it back. Can you fix this so we can at least have the old one back?
The Lady of the Jewels says no: If the guildmaster is unable to reselect the old guild emblem, it is most likely already taken by another guild in the same cluster. As with player names, when servers are clustered any existing guild emblems that are the same between two servers are grandfathered in, but if one of those emblems is changed it cannot be changed back as it is already flagged as taken elsewhere on the cluster.
Any chance you can refresh the "Egg hunt" quest that was in the battlegrounds?
With a quick glance at the calendar the Lady of the Jewels had this to say: This was a seasonal quest for the spring. It may very well return around the same time next year.
My question involves the Warden offensive heal proc. Why can't the Warden use this ability against a Midgard player that has the Valkyrie buff active? I get the message my target already has a offensive buff effect. I asked another Warden and he just told me I have to target nothing then hit my buff then re-target a player. Is this a bug or intended?
The Equalizer typed this, that and something else and came up with: This bug is known, and is in our tracker awaiting a fix. The information that you received is accurate - in order to cast this spell, you must either be targeting nothing, or be targeting something that does not currently have an offensive proc buff cast upon it. Thank you for the report.
Just wanted to say thanks for the doppels. It has been a great opportunity to run with different people in different groups. I wish they weren't leaving, it has been great fun. Won't you please reconsider leaving the doppels in the game?
The Lady of the Jewels grinned knowing that those pesky invaders were not done with the realms quite yet: Those doppelgangers are unpredictable as always. They already seem to be resurfacing throughout the frontiers.
The Armsman Dragonslayer Quest doesn't offer a 2-handed crush weapon. It has all of them but a 2-handed crush. I really love the 2-handed styles and don't want to respec just to use a weapon I want. Think you can add it in?
Knowing the answer immediately the Lady of the Jewels quoted herself: From last week's grab bag:
Q. I recently finally managed to get credit for my Thane on the Dragonslayer Weapon quest killing all 3 dragons, (Alb, Hib, Mid) and turned my quest in to get my weapon. I know that tanks can get shields as well, and was looking forward to having the large shield, only to discover that the reward system only offers me a small or a medium shield.
Are Thane's (who now have the large shield ability) not able to get a large shield from the Dragonslayer weapon quest, or was this an oversight that no Thane has brought to your attention yet? Thanesk!
A. With a nod and a Thanesk for the question, the Lady of the Jewels explains: The way our quest system is currently set up new style quests can only have up to 8 rewards attached to them at a time. Classes like the Thane who have more than 8 weapon choices need to take an extra step if they want an item not on the original quest choice list by choosing any one of the items and then handing it to the Stonecrush, Svartalf, or Azure apprentice located near the main quest NPC. These Apprentice NPCs are:
Lamont in Grimspound
Geddsyn in Svarhamr
Aliona in Tailtiu
Armsman are another class which has more weapon choices than can fit in one quest. Lamont in Grimspound will gladly trade one of the initial weapon choices for a two handed crushing weaspon or a shield.
I found an item called the Black Pearl Bracelet that says it is dropped in Sobekite Eternal. What mob does this item drop from and do i need to do this with a character that doesn't have credit to be able at a chance for it to drop.
The Lady of the Jewels always giggled at the mention of a pearl: This item is dropped from the Speos Treasure Hunter in Sobekite Eternal in Midgard only. If the player or someone they are grouped with does not already have credit for the encounter then the bracelet will have a chance to drop. If no one in the group needs credit then it will need to be obtained through the trogo zontanos mageia.
Back in the day (2002-03), the attribute that affected melee damage was based on the damage type, IE: Crush (Str), Slash (Str) and Thurst (Str/Dex). Is this still true or is it dependent on spec line?
The Equalizers says yes it is still true: Weapon damage is still calculated based on the type of weapon being used. This has not changed.
I have some chars that have rested XP, every time when I level with them I have a problem with the way Bonus or CLXP is getting added to XP. When I do have rest XP all bonus and CLXP only is coming from the rested XP and not from all XP.
For example I have a level 28 Healer that is using the XP-Charge from the Amulet of Midgard, which delves as a 10% XP bonus. Now I receive 5,160,960 XP from a mob - I get 2,457,600 for being rested and I get 245,760 Bonus XP from the XP charge. That seems to be wrong to be as the 10% bonus XP should come from the 5,160,960 XP and not only from rested XP. The same is when you do have a character that is getting rested XP and you get CLXP, the CLXP is only coming from rested XP and not from complete XP.
What is causing this?
This question took awhile to decipher but the Equalizer was more then ready for the challenge: The way that experience is displayed when received from a monster kill is slightly misleading. When you kill a monster and it displays that you have received 5,160,960 experience, this is the actual value that is granted to your character. Everything after that is merely a broken-down version of where this experience came from.
In your example, you actually would have only received 2,457,600 experience from killing the monster, had you not been rested and had the 10% bonus. That value is where the amount of extra EXP granted is calculated - rested experience will give you a 100% bonus, and then the bonus EXP gives you 10% of that original value. The same is true of Champion Experience - 10% of the original value that the mob would have given you.
As it stands now, Champion Level Experience is not affected by Rest Experience, and will only be calculated based on the experience that the monster would have given before any bonuses were applied.
