Grab Bag - August 31, 2007
A big announcement? Hmm...what could it be?
Q. We've done the Green Knight encounter several times and have not gotten any loot to drop other then remains. Is this intentional, or does he still drop some of the nicer items that were associated with him?
A. The Bearded Wonder: Yes, he can still drop other items, but the only item that is set to drop all the time is the Remains. The others are set as a chance to drop, so it sounds like you just didn't beat the odds. Keep trying.
Q. When 1.90 goes live, are the Relics going to be reset?
A. The Keeper of the Devs assures us: Yes, we will need to reset all of the keeps and the relics when 1.90 goes live.
Q. My outside guild banners on my house in Aberillian/Nimue are not displaying the correct banner. I submitted a bug report in game several weeks ago, but haven't heard anything yet. Is this a known issue? I haven't seen any information about it. I have a guild mate several houses down who has the same problem. His house is showing the same wrong banner mine is.
A. Says the Trade Goddess: You can appeal this (though not as a bug report, as an Appeal/Emergency Appeal) and someone from CS can fix it for you.
Bug reports (with the exception of Quest bugs) through the appeal system go directly to our Quality Assurance department. They cannot contact you to help you once you submit a bug report. So, continue to send your bug reports in, but also contact CS if you're in need of immediate assistance.
Q. I have been doing the dragon quests and I had a question. I have done all of them on a level 50 character, and the quest's level requirement for getting the dragon slayer armor is Lev 49. I have a level 49 that I have done all the quests up to the point where I should receive the Dragonslayer Armor, but it is not letting me talk to Elia. My question is, even though the quest says it's a level 49 quest do you acctually have to be level 50 to pick it up??
A. According to the Camelot Campaign Guide, based on the information given, the relevant passage would be: "If you have the cloak, the medal, and have completed the Moran the Mighty quest, you may speak with Elia. She will grant you your reward: the Dragonslayer armor."
The armor should be obtainable at level 49 if you have fulfilled the requirements noted above.
If you are still having issues or think something is amiss, you can contact in game support and have them look at your character and help identify where the disconnect could be. Thanks again, Bearded Wonder.
Q. Are there any benefits to crafting in Camelot as opposed to one's cottage? I looked in the archives for any note to such a thing and couldn't find anything. My alliance is convinced there's a higher chance to skill up in Camelot.
A. Says the Trade Goddess: There are indeed bonuses for crafting in capital cities. They were introduced with Version 1.86. Here's the detail:
When crafting in Jordheim, Tir na Nog, and Camelot City, players will receive a 10% bonus to crafting speed and a 5% bonus to skill gain chance for all tradeskills.
These bonuses are not found in housing zones, so if you want a leg up in skilling, go to your capital city.
Q. I haven't been able to decide which Dragonslayer weapon I want to use because I haven't really figured out a new template just yet. As it stands I have completed the quests, but I have the trade-in quest pending for choosing a different weapon. My question is, will the NPC/quest that handles the trade in of Dragonslayer quests be removed as well? Do I need to figure it out before the weekend ends?
A. From the Dragon Lady: The trade-in NPCs will be left as they are. When possible, most of the quests are remaining in forms similar to their original forms. Some have been changed due to changes in the world, some have been made more difficult, but the majority of them can still be completed. In many cases, having done some quests before the switch to the persistent quest chain will let you skip ahead in the chain.
The only quests that won't still be valid will be quests that relate to something specific that is no longer occurring - for instance, all the wounded guards have been rescued and the towns rebuilt, so some of the town-specific quests can't be finished anymore. Most of these were minor standalone quests, which mostly existed in order to point characters toward recent changes in the world.
The only things going away completely are the Medals and the Cloak.
It will be more difficult to obtain both the armor and weapon after the patch. Already having the current version of the quest in your journal will not necessarily prevent this increased difficulty from affecting you. Once you have the weapon itself the exchanges are not affected.
Q. My question is regarding Broken Dragonsworn Weapon and (primarily)Armor drops we use for our recipes - I assume they will still drop from these few small camps. Are the Dragonsworn eventually going to go away completely or are we going to be left with only a few places to camp for these components?
A. Don't worry. The Dragon Lady assures me those camps aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
We have some new TL openings this week. Currently we're trying to fill the following positions: Necromancer, Bainshee, Enchanter, Reaver, and Eldritch. If you think you have what it takes, and you like mayhem and hobnobbing with game developers, click here.
Now that the Seattle Round Table is over and done with, we're getting geared up for the next one in Austin, TX. It's going to be BIG, because everything in Texas is BIG. If you plan on moseying up, be sure to RSVP so we order enough pigs in a blanket.
Next weekend, on September 9, Daamien and Sinnocent are hosting a Play on Tintagel Day. Even if you don't have characters on Tintagel, why not plan to head over and see what it's all about. Here's more info.
Well folks, if all goes well tonight with the Pendragon patch, we plan to push 1.90 live on September 5. If you haven't read up on the patch notes recently, you should. Also, check here for info on the new patching process. There's a lot of exciting stuff going in, including completely revamped keeps, towers, and bridges, DoT changes, and siegecrafting.
Imagine walking through your capitol city and bumping into an NPC with YOUR name. It could happen, if you enter and win our Put Your Name in Camelot Contest.
So what is the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT in this week's Grab Bag, you ask? Why am I giddy in my seat as I type this? It's because I'm finally able to answer the burning question on everyone's mind. Well, what seems like everyone, anyway. That question is: Are you planning on clustering Tintagel? The answer, my friends, is YES! After seemingly endless internal discussion fueled by a constant (and rather insistent) flow of player feedback, we have decided to cluster Tintagel with Killibury. We need to get the proper hardware in place, though, so it certainly won't be happening for 1.90. The very tentative plan is to complete the clustering in late September or early October. More details are sure to follow, but we wanted to get the news out to you as soon as possible, so the two clusters can start making friends (and enemies, of course!).
Have fun playing this weekend, and don't forget to finish up those Dragon Campaign quests!
