Grab Bag - August 15, 2008
Many gems answered in this one:
Hello, I’m an former player with no active account however I still keep track on the Herald. I was just curious as to how Darkness Falls will work on Origins. I enjoy playing assassins and I hunt inside Darkness Falls more then anywhere. When I saw a grief rule I was upset. Will Darkness Falls still function the same with a free for all rule?
The Lady of the Jewels has the info about Darkness Falls on Origins: It will be treated just like the Frontiers zones. At this time we plan to include grief protection there as well; however, players will still be able to track down assassins and griefers around their own level and fight them.
At what point does Dexterity stop effecting casting speed? I'm at 390 dex with Aug Dex 3 and need a way to know if spending points and increasing my Dex further will benefit me. Thank you in advance.
The Equalizer took a moment to explain: There currently is a cap on Dexterity affecting casting speed, once the player has reached 390 dexterity. After this point, dexterity will no longer provide any noticeable benefit to the casting speed of your spells - while they are still getting faster, it's in the order of a thousandth of a second per point of dexterity. As such, improving dexterity beyond 390 will not provide any benefit to your character.
I have been working on building some templates and I have had some trouble due to the fact that we do not have Medal of Honor anymore. Will the Medal of Honor be coming back any time soon?
Knowing how precious the Medal of Honor is, the Lady of the Jewels says: The Medal of Honor is an item we reserve for special in-game events such as the Ghost Keep and Midwinter. Our event schedule is ongoing, so even though the Medal of Honor is unavailable at this time, you might see its return in the near future!
Have you guys given any thought to toning down the difficulty of the mobs in the SI dungeons?
With a twinkle in her eye, the Lady of the Jewels says: We are currently investigating ways to make these dungeons less frustrating and time consuming.
I was wondering why my volley arrow shot "Slash" with an AOE wont fire, even when I’m standing real close to another realm enemy. It says it has a range of 2100 but will not work?
The Equalizer has these words of volleying advice: The Volley spell in Archery is a ground-targeted AOE ability, which requires the player to have a ground-target at the location they wish to fire upon. If the player only has an enemy targeted, but no ground-target, then this ability will not fire.
Hey, I was just curious and haven't checked up on the matter much but I was wondering; is anything going to happen with the Mordred server? I mean, as far as being accessed to character copying of any sort or something. Can you please explain to me what is going to happen as far as this matter goes?
With a toss of her hair, the Lady of the Jewels says: Unfortunately, we are unable to set up character copying to Mordred. It simply isn't possible. That being said, we do have some things we will be including in both the upcoming 1.95 patch and beyond to help Mordred regain some of its players.
Is the Vampiir’s see hidden ability affected by MOS?
Shaking his head, the Equalizer says: No. The Vampiir Stealth Detection buff is not affected by Mastery of Stealth. This functions in the same way that Stealth Lore, which can be found on several Trials of Atlantis Artifacts, does.
I have a question in regards to the NPC Sphinx Mobs that roam around ToA. I have recently been killing these mobs out of curiosity to see if they might drop certain loot. After killing them so many times I have realized I ruined my faction with them and I can't go past them without getting attacked. Is there any possible way to reverse this so they may become neutral to the character I killed them with?
The Lady of Jewels searched and searched: As far as I can tell, there is no way to gain faction with these mobs.
I have the "Foil Hat of Swirling Thoughts" and it is quite useful, but one thing I find is that after using it to teleport me to the Grove of Domnann, I often forget to take it off and put my regular Level 50 helm back on. In order to help me remember, I recently tried to dye it a bright red color. That's when I found out it "...is not dyable!". Is there any thoughts to changing this for absent-minded players like me?
The Lady of the Jewels didn’t want to forget to tell you: I am also too absent-minded and forget to put my helm back on after using the Foil Hat. This seems like a reasonable request to me!
I'm a Skald and I'm trying to decide if I want to respec to axe, if I do so I am planning on putting 50 points in the axe specialization. However, this would mean that I would lose a level on both my insta snare and mez (going from purple to yellow). I am wondering if this loss in level would effect the degree to which these spells succeed. Would it?
The Equalizer took his time to answer this to make certain: This question was addressed in a previous grab bag, found here: http://www.camelotherald.com/more/2479.shtml. One point that can be made about your situation is that the Realm Ability Mastery of Focus will increase the "effective" level of your spell, and will allow you to use lower-level spells just as effectively as level 50 spells, which can allow you to spend more specialization points into a weapon skill.
So I was on a Tuscaran Glacier Raid and we kill the King and Queen and only the group that got loot got the Sliver for the Doppelganger quest. I was under the impression this was BG credit item/quest. How do you expect 1 group to kill the King and Queen?
The Lady of the Jewels looked into this for you: I spent some time investigating this report this morning and I discovered an issue with Queen Kula that would cause only a single group to receive a sliver of heart from her. This issue has now been corrected on all servers. I checked on Olcasgean and Apocalypse as well and they should now be granting the slivers of heart properly as well.
