Ellan Vannin

An ancient island, once a bastion of Arthur’s reign, where all three realms lived in harmony along with the island's original inhabitants:  the Manx. After Arthur’s fall its war-torn shores were abandoned and lost to time… until now. The rulers of the Otherworlds remembered this ancient place. Each have returned with the aim of controlling this once great land and the formidable underground keep, Knoc Meayll, for their realm!

  • The battle-lines have been re-drawn and the war over Agramon has been abandoned.
  • Ellan Vannin now commands the attention of the realms!

Layout

  • Ellan Vannin has a similar outline to the old Agramon zone but is a bit larger with a completely different interior layout and textures:
    • A new keep, Knoc Meayll, has been added to the center of the zone and is located underground.
      • There are two tunnel entrances on the east and west side of the hill in the center of the zone. These tunnels lead into the underground area and are always open.
      • 3 new towers have been added around the keep that control whether or not realms can teleport to it using portal stones.
    • A large plateau with 3 lookout towers and ancient ruins exists in the center of the zone, above the underground keep.
    • A valley and thoroughfare surrounds this plateau in the central area of the island.
    • These areas also each have one ‘ruined town’ and at least one other set of buildings, ruins, or features that are all tucked into the far, outer edges of the ‘outskirt’ areas.
    • The new docks have had several structures added to them to make them more dynamic locales for conflict.
    • A narrow, two-way path exists for traversing around each of these milegates.
    • Three ‘outskirt’ areas surround the central plateau and valley. These areas are largely open, flat terrain with minimal obstructions.
    • Ellan Vannin has 2 capturable dock locations, one on the east and one on the west side of the island. There is no longer a capturable dock on the south side.
    • There is one milegate per realm on Ellan Vannin.
    • The ruined Korazh, Deifrang, and Graoch towers have been moved next to each realm’s single milegate.
    • A new one-way teleport location has been added to the top of the hills behind each milegate. The terrain at the top of the hill behaves similarly to Darkness Falls’ staircase entrances where once a player has ventured down, they cannot go back up. The top of the hill can only be accessed via teleport but the path leading from the hill can be traversed normally.
      • Siege weapons cannot be created in or around these one-way portal locations and paths.
    • The entire zone has received a highly-polished texturing pass.

Underground Keep

  • The underground keep, Knoc Meayll, has a unique keep encounter that doubles as the Otherworlds Campaign Chapter 10 encounter.
    • Knoc Meayll begins in a neutral state.
      • When in this neutral state, the Otherworlds Campaign Chapter 10 encounter will be active.
    • Once captured by a realm, a 90 minute timer starts that once finished, will reset the keep to a neutral state.
      • Upon reset, all players inside the region of the keep will be teleported out of it and the gates will be closed.
        • Teleported players will be moved to outside of the keep's outer gate in the main cavern area.
        • Teleported players will have a 15 second immunity to damage and will be unable to cast spells for the immunity's duration.
    • If the keep is captured by another realm before the 90 minute timer is up, the 90 minute timer starts again.
      • This timer amount will eventually be increased.
    • Once captured by a realm, Knoc Meayll will behave similarly to all other keeps, aside from the aforementioned reset timer.
    • (Gaheris-only) A more involved encounter has been added to the underground keep portion of Ellan Vannin.
  • The three new towers that control port to Knoc Meayll are owned by the following realms by default:
    • Toor Sumark (East tower): Albion
    • Toor Broogh (West tower): Midgard
    • Toor Braid (South tower): Hibernia
  • Realms that capture Knoc Meayll and all of its towers will be able to open up teleport to enemy realm center keeps (Caer Boldiam, Glenlock Faste, and Dun nGed) if they are captured along with all of their towers.
  • Four siege tent hookpoints, two outside the main gate, and two in the courtyard have been placed around Knoc Meayll.
    • NPC guards and siege weapons will not be available for purchase via hookpoints at Knoc Meayll.

Buggane's Obelisk

  • A new RvR objective has been added above ground, directly over the underground keep’s location, called Buggane’s Obelisk.
    • This objective first appears as a pile of rubble, called “Obelisk Rubble” on top of the circular platform that rests on the central plateau of Ellan Vannin.
    • A realm that attacks, destroys, and clears away the rubble will erect a newly repaired Buggane’s Obelisk for their realm.
      • The controlling realm’s members can interact with this obelisk to receive the new buff: Buggane’s Folly.
        • Buggane’s Folly grants players a 15% bonus to Realm Point, Coin, and Bounty Point gain for its duration.
        • This buff stacks with item RP, Coin, and BP bonuses but does not stack with other spell bonuses such as Orseo’s buff (Minotaur relic).
        • Buggane’s Folly lasts for 30 minutes and persists through death or relog.
        • Buggane’s Folly casts a very powerful curse on any player that ventures into Knoc Meayll’s region with the buff active.
        • Players will have to shift+right-click to remove the effect if they decide to venture into the underground keep’s region.
      • Players can interact with the obelisk as many times as they want, as long as their realm controls it, in order to refresh their Buggane’s Folly buff.
      • When a realm erects a new Buggane’s Obelisk, 4 large realm banners will appear on top of the staircases in the center of the plateau.
      • These banners can be seen clearly from players in the valley and hills surrounding the plateau.
      • System messages will also be sent out at the time of the obelisks capture or destruction.
      • There are no plans to have this objective added to the /realmwar map.
    • Enemy realms can, at any time, destroy the existing Buggane’s Obelisk and turn it back into Obelisk Rubble.
    • Realms then must clear away the rubble again to spawn their own obelisk.
    • Players can use siege weapons on the Obelisk Rubble, but not within 750 in-game units of it.
    • Up to 3 siege weapons can be aimed at the rubble at once.
    • Any siege weapon created within 750 units is immediately destroyed.
    • Players cannot use siege weapons on Buggane’s Obelisk.
    • The Obelisk Rubble is much more difficult to destroy than an existing Buggane’s Obelisk.
    • There are no guards or other defensive structures that protect this objective. It’s up to you!

General Changes

  • A new one-way port has been added at the top of the hill behind each milegate.
    • This one-way port can be accessed via the portal ceremony in the relic towns of Forest Sauvage, Cruachan Gorge, and Uppland.
    • The portal ceremony will occur more frequently the less ruined towers (Korazh, Deifrang, and Graoch towers) your realm controls, as follows:
      • Every 5 minutes if your realm owns all three ruined towers.
      • Every 3 minutes if your realm owns only two of the ruined towers.
      • Every 90 seconds if your realm owns only one ruined tower.
      • Every 30 seconds if your realm owns zero ruined towers.
    • Additionally, this ceremony can be prevented or ‘cut’ by capturing one of the following keeps (not towers) in each realm:
    • Albion: Caer Renaris or Caer Hurbury
    • Midgard: Fensalir Faste or Arvakr Faste
    • Hibernia: Dun Ailinne or Dun Scathaig
  • The new capture-able dock locations start as neutral owned on server startup but currently never reset back to neutral once they’ve been captured once.
  • Boats used from the captured Ellan Vannin dock locations have the following benefits:
    • Boats going to the normal Alb/Mid/Hib Coast destinations from these docks can now hold up to 32 players instead of the usual 16 from the other dock locations.
    • A new destination is available at these docks that takes players to an enemy realms’ center keep island.
      • These boats only carry up to 4 players at once.
  • New quests have been added to the Ellan Vannin dockmasters for players that have completed the Otherworlds Chapter 10 encounter that reward players with realm points for killing enemy realm players inside Knoc Meayll.
  • This quest is in addition to the dockmasters’ normal quest that asks players to kill enemy realm players on Ellan Vannin as a whole.
  • Doppleganger locations have been moved to the new ruined towns and features in the outskirt areas of Ellan Vannin.
  • Additional charmable mobs have been added to Ellan Vannin as follows:
    • Behind each realm’s milegate:
      • Albion: Added grey- blue changelings and yellow-orange templars.
      • Midgard: Added grey- blue wolfspiders and yellow-orange icestriders.
      • Hibernia: Added grey- blue torcans and yellow-orange grannies.
    • Near the Doppelganger Lords’ 'cubby-holes' in each outskirt area:
    • Added yellow-red padfoots.
    • All of the newly added charmable mobs are neutral to players.
  • (Gaheris-only) All mobs and existing encounters on the old Agramon zone have been moved to new homes on Ellan Vannin.
  • Otherworldly Essences and Otherworldly Ores have been placed throughout Ellan Vannin in the ‘ruined towns’ and other buildings found in the ‘outskirt areas’ of the zone.
  • The Orb of Entropy and Pound of Flesh now have a chance to drop off Uther, Ymir, Cliodna, and Manannan mac Lir in Knoc Meayll.
    • This includes realm versions of Uther, Ymir, and Cliodna.

Frontiers

Supply Lines

  • The Supply Lines make their return!

      • The old bug preventing the swords from displaying in the Agramon zone has been fixed. Cross-swords will appear on the Ellan Vannin tab of the realmwar map.
    • Players will once again see the Cup, Hammer, and Tree icons when large forces pass near an outpost.
    • A small version of the Cup, Hammer, and Tree icon will now appear when there are 4-15 players near an outpost.
    • A medium version of the icons will appear when there are 16-32 players near the outpost.
    • A large version of the icons will appear when there are 33+ players near the outpost.
    • The Cup, Hammer, and Tree icons will now appear more reliably than before. However, in order to see them appear, players will need to use the “Update” button on the realmwar map still.
    • The capture-able docks on Ellan Vannin now have keep icons above their locations on the /realmwar map that will show who currently owns them.
  • User Interface Note: Custom UIs will need to be updated in order to see the new Ellan Vannin outposts on their /realmwar map. These fixes will allow custom UI users to see the new docks', underground keep's, and the new capturable towers' icons as well as the new ruined tower's new locations. Quests

    • The crafting helm rewards for this quest are no longer trade-able to other characters.
    • The max charges on these items have been increased from 60 to 90.
      • Please note that existing items will need to be recharged from whatever their current charge count is to see the new value of 90.
    • The skill gain bonus has had its value increased significantly.
      • Please note that the skill gain bonus will also remove an additional charge when it is applied (does not happen at max tradeskill).
    • The issue preventing the minimum quality bonus from applying when wearing these hats has been fixed and now applies to ALL crafting tradeskills.
      • The minimum quality bonus has been reduced slightly from 3 to 2.
      • Please note that with this bonus now working, players will now see an additional charge be removed when this bonus is applied.
        • As such, this bonus has been removed from the Spellcrafting, Alchemy, and Siegecrafting hats.
      • The speed and skill gain bonuses still apply to the respective hat’s tradeskill.

Bug Fixes

  • Client updates should now happen more frequently, resulting in less player “ghosting” at max clip range.
  • New Legendary Weapon glowy effects should now be able to be seen by other players.
    • Some glowy weapon effects will now be seen by other players in a “reduced” graphical form but this will result in much less glowy effect ‘artifacts’ or ‘residues’ being left around the world when certain conditions were met; providing a net reduction in  lag.
  • Player damage tables for Reinforced, Scale, and Plate should now correctly mirror the values on the Herald’s Armor Resist tables.
  • The disease cast by some mobs in the Tomb of Mithra has had its duration reduced to 60 seconds.
