Otherworlds Campaign
-
Chapter 10’s encounter difficulty within the underground keep of Knoc Meayll has been reduced.
- It is still area credit and designed for larger forces, but now well organized groups should be able to tackle it as well!
-
This encounter will now spawn every 3 hours instead of every 90 minutes after a single realm has held the keep.
- This timer resets each time a realm takes the keep.
- In addition to the encounter’s difficulty being reduced, the neutral keep’s doors have also had their HP reduced slightly to facilitate smaller forces who want to take it.
-
When Knoc Meayll is captured by a realm now, a new instance portal will spawn in the keep on the outer gate’s ledge that will teleport players to a brand new Otherworldly Chapter 10 instanced encounter!
-
This portal will only teleport players into the instance if they meet the following requirements:
- They are of the realm that owns the keep
- The keep is not currently under siege
- The players are not currently in combat
- (Gaheris-only) The instance portal to the new instance is located in the water, underneath the ramp to the outer gate of Knoc Meayll and is always available to players on the server.
- This encounter is designed to be challenging for 8 organized players, but is slightly less challenging than the Hallowed Ruins instance from the Halloween event.
- The encounter will have a chance to drop loot from all Otherworlds Chapters!
- The encounter will also grant quest credit for Chapter 10.
-
This portal will only teleport players into the instance if they meet the following requirements:
-
The following Otherworldly Helms are now valid choices when completing the Otherworlds Chapter 10 quest:
- Cloth Otherworldly Mighty Eyes now drop for Albion and Hibernia.
- Studded Otherworldly Mighty Eyes now drop for Albion (already drop for Midgard).
-
Plate Otherworldly Curative Sunburst now drops for Albion.
-
The above items also have a chance to drop, along with all other Otherworldly loot, from the encounter in the neutral-held Knoc Meayll keep as well as inside the new instance encounter that can be accessed when each realm controls the Knoc Meayll keep!
- The instance encounter also has a chance to drop Otherworldly Essence potion materials.
- Because the helms are available in-game as encounter drops and their availability has increased with the addition of the new instance encounter, there will not be a turn-in NPC for those that have already completed the quest and wish to get one of the new versions.
-
The above items also have a chance to drop, along with all other Otherworldly loot, from the encounter in the neutral-held Knoc Meayll keep as well as inside the new instance encounter that can be accessed when each realm controls the Knoc Meayll keep!
Realm vs Realm
General
-
Personal RvR missions no longer have a 30-minute timer before they can be changed to another mission.
- Please note that this will allow players to switch their personal RvR mission regardless of how many enemy kills or other tasks remain, resulting in no reward for the un-completed mission.
-
Supply lines now only reference the actual keep of any required outpost, instead of the keep and all of its towers.
-
For example, if a player is inside Fensalir Faste and wants to teleport to Bledmeer Faste, they must have an intact supply line. In this case, an intact supply line means that Glenlock Faste is controlled by Midgard.
- With this change, if the Glenlock Faste keep is controlled by Midgard (and all of Bledmeer and Fensalir’s keeps/towers are controlled by Midgard) players can successfully teleport from Fensalir to Bledmeer; regardless of the status of Glenlock’s towers.
-
This means that the actual keeps of Caer Boldiam, Glenlock Faste, or Dun nGed must be captured in order to cut the supply line now.
- Taking the central keep’s towers will only cut port to and from that specific keep and will no longer affect the supply line.
- Please note that no changes have been made to normal teleport rules regarding keep and tower control. Realms must still own a keep and all of its towers to be able to port in or from a keep’s portal stone.
-
For example, if a player is inside Fensalir Faste and wants to teleport to Bledmeer Faste, they must have an intact supply line. In this case, an intact supply line means that Glenlock Faste is controlled by Midgard.
-
The Resource Crate spawn mechanics have been changed as follows:
- There will now always be a total 9 potential spawn locations at each keep instead of that number increasing as the keep levels.
- Out of the 9 potential spawn locations, a maximum of 5 crates can be spawned at one time.
-
Now, the spawn rate of these 9 potential locations is doubled when a keep hits level 6+ and again when it hits 9+.
- This change was made to encourage more movement in order to gather the resource crates.
- Resource crates still only begin spawning on level 3+ keeps and can only be picked up by realms that control the keep.
-
For now, resource crates will still only spawn around the following keeps to keep action around them more condensed:
- Caer Sursbrooke
- Caer Erasleigh
- Hlidskialf Faste
- Blendrake Faste
- Dun da Behnn
- Dun Bolg
-
The Secure the Beachhead realm enemy kill quest on Ellan Vannin and other RvR kill quests should once again properly award credit for RvR kills.
- They will not award credit for /duel kills.
-
Boat routes to Caer Berkstead, Nottmoor Faste, and Dun Crimthainn are once again available from Dockmasters found in each realm.
- Dockmasters on Ellan Vannin still only offer trips to the coasts or downriver of enemy realms.
Ellan Vannin
- Players with the Buggane’s Obelisk’s buff can now safely venture in and around the underground keep, Knoc Meayll!
-
The difficulty of capturing the underground keep when another realm owns it has been drastically reduced.
- Guard levels and door hit points are now at a point where a full group of organized players can capture the keep in a reasonable amount of time.
- Only field war rams can be placed in and around Knoc Meayll now. All other siege placed or moved into the vicinity will be immediately removed.
-
All Knoc Meayll towers on Ellan Vannin have been removed.
-
Realms that own the keep can port in and out freely as long as they own their realm’s Center Island keep (Boldiam, Glenlock, and nGed).
- The portal stone inside the keep has been moved to the outer gate’s ledge to make it much less safe for players to port-out mid-siege. Players cannot use portal stones in combat.
-
The safe-port areas on Ellan Vannin have been given a secondary, one-way path down into the contested area of the zone.
- Extra measures have been taken to ensure siege cannot be placed on these new on-way paths in reach of the milegate-bypassing paths.
-
The Ruined Towers of Korazh, Deifrang, and Graoch by each milegate on Ellan Vannin can no longer be teleported to.
- These towers remain ruined for now.
- The portal ceremony to the safe-port area now occurs every 60s, regardless of the amount of Ruined Towers owned.
-
Realms that own the keep can port in and out freely as long as they own their realm’s Center Island keep (Boldiam, Glenlock, and nGed).
Keep, Tower, and Layout Changes
-
The former Portal Keeps of Caer Berkstead, Dun Crimthainn, and Nottmoor Faste are once again fully operational and capturable coastal keeps!
- The invulnerable guards and NPCs have been removed or relocated to the strength relic towns and/or safe-port areas on Ellan Vannin.
- Each of these keeps has had 3 towers re-added to it.
- All 3 towers and the keep must be owned for an enemy realm to gain teleport to these outposts.
- Just like all other coastal keeps, the home realm cannot teleport to these keeps under any circumstances.
-
The tower located to the rear or side of all non-ruined keeps (this is almost always the Watchtower) has been moved away from each keep to a new location.
- This means each non-ruined keep now has 1 forward facing tower directly in front of the main keep gate and then 1 tower (Renaris, Hurbury, Fensalir, Arvakr, Ailine, Scathaig) or 2 towers (Boldiam, Sursbrooke, Erasleigh, Berkstead, Glenlock, Hlidskialf, Blendrake, Nottmoor, nGed, da Behnn, Bolg, Crimthainn) a decent distance away from the keep.
- This has been done to facilitate more objective-based gameplay and to help focus the action back to the realm frontiers when port has been taken in one of them!
-
Ruined Keeps can now only be teleported to by their home realm.
- Enemy realms can still capture them and cut teleport to them, but they will not be able to teleport directly into Ruined Keeps in enemy realms any longer.
Population, Keep, and Relic Bonus Changes
- In addition to the new tower placements and re-focused attention on needing to capture coastal keeps in order to invade enemy realms, we have some exciting new RvR bonus incentives to announce!
-
First, we’re very excited to unveil the new Dynamic Population Bonus system.
- This system will reward underpopulated realms with bonus realm points to help offset and stabilize the population imbalance as quickly as possible.
- The current bonus status will be displayed to players when viewing the realm selection screen:
- The dynamic population bonus is re-calculated every 15 minutes and only calculates based on the number of players within the New Frontiers region.
- Once in-game, players will see the amount of underpopulated bonus RPs that they are receiving in their combat window after each kill earned in RvR.
-
The bonus amounts are as follows:
- 81-90% population of most populated realm: +10% RPs
- 71-80% population of most populated realm: +25% RPs
- 61-70% population of most populated realm: +40% RPs
- 51-60% population of most populated realm: +55% RPs
- 41-50% population of most populated realm: +70% RPs
- 31-40% population of most populated realm: +85% RPs
- 0-30% population of the most populated realm: +100% RPs
- These bonuses will stack with all other bonuses!
-
Second, we are excited to announce some vast improvements to the keep capture bonuses!
-
Keep capture bonuses no longer apply until a keep is both claimed and upgraded to at least level 5.
- Note: it takes a little over an hour to upgrade a keep to level 5 once it’s been claimed.
- Please note that these keep capture bonuses are a separate system than the keep siege contribution system. All related bonuses co-exist and stack.
- Keep capture bonuses have been greatly increased as follows in order to incentivize not just the taking of keeps but the maintaining, holding, and defending of them as well:
-
Keep capture bonuses no longer apply until a keep is both claimed and upgraded to at least level 5.
-
Finally, we’re excited to bring you the new and improved Relic Bonuses!
- These bonuses have been adjusted to help alleviate the damage and power balance from realms that had most or all of the relics at once; while also rewarding the winning realm with new PvE-related bonuses that will make them stronger in the long-run without too heavily incentivizing players to join an already dominant realm even more in RvR!
Relic Gate Changes
- In addition to all of those awesome new bonuses, we are going to be making pulling of a relic-raid even more epic!
-
Instead of relic milegates automatically opening when the requisite keeps are taken, they will now remain closed but become attackable.
- Attackable relic milegates can be broken down with rams, just like keep doors!
-
Once broken, home realms will need to repair the gates in order to close them; even after the respective keeps have been retaken and defended.
- Relic milegates are protected by 3 vats of boiling oil, which respawn naturally every 5 minutes!
- The only other siege weapon of any kind allowed near relic gates is a field war ram.
-
Once a home realm has defended and taken back the necessary keeps for the relic gates to be safe, the gates must still be repaired back to 25%+ health before they will close.
- In this scenario, when relic milegates are repaired back to 25% they will automatically close and repair to 100% health!
- If the requisite keeps have *not* been retaken and are still in enemy control, the home realm must repair broken relic milegates from 0% to 100% in order to close them.
- We very much look forward to the *epic* battles that will occur over these massive gates!
Siege Changes
- The last bit of our RvR changes have to do with some much requested changes to keep siege warfare!
- First, players may no longer use scrolls of recall or Sojourner gate/group-gate abilities while inside a structure that is under siege (flames visible on the /realmwar map).
-
Second, siege weapons will no longer hit players inside of 0%, destroyed outpost pieces if that outpost piece still has a roof overhead.
-
This includes all center keep structures, outer gate houses, and towers (until they fully collapse), etc.
- Siege weapons should not damage you if you are inside, and not on the roof, of these structures.
-
Finally, the logout and linkdead grace-timer that allows players who disconnected to return to the same location in RvR has been reduced from 10 minutes to 5 minutes.
- This has been done to thwart players who were intentionally disconnecting in order to relog into an empty keep and retake it.
- We hope that these changes will make for some even more engaging and ferocious last stands and outpost assaults!
-
This includes all center keep structures, outer gate houses, and towers (until they fully collapse), etc.
Class Changes
General
-
A new crowd control effect referred to as ‘Slow’ is introduced:
- Targets affected by Slow have their movement speed reduced, both in and out of combat.
- Slow effects do not have an associated immunity timer after the effect ends. A target can be continuously slowed.
- Slow stacks on top of any root or snare effect currently on the target - in a sense strengthening the power of the current root or snare.
- Slows do not break on damage and do not have an associated immunity timer after its effect ends.
- The strength of the slow lasts its full duration. It does not weaken as the remaining duration lowers.
- Targets that are root or snare immune can still be slowed.
- Slow effects do not interrupt on their own.
- The proc rate on the Astral Blade of Illusions, Astral Conflagrant Short Sword, Astral Conflagrant Hatchet, Astral Voltaics variations, and Traitor’s Dagger have been very slightly reduced.
-
The highest version of the base Armor Factor buff from the Camelot Cleric, Jordheim Shaman, and Tir na Nog Druid NPCs has had its delve increased to 125.
- These merchant buffs will now only buff the Necromancer instead of them and their pet.

Necromancer
The Necromancer revamp brings forth a new and exciting direction to a class that has been at its best, difficult to manage, balance, and play; and at its worst, broken. Still, the decision to embark on this new direction did not come easily and is not without risk but it’s one that we feel strongly in as the best to take the class. The seeds of this idea were planted many years ago, back within the halls of Mythic Entertainment, and we’re happy to finally see them blossom.
Before getting into the specific changes in the notes below, we wanted to outline some of the big-picture mechanical changes to the class:
- Generally-speaking, there are 3 “classes” in one here, based on specialization: a pure caster, a melee/caster hybrid, and a pet-based, utility caster. These 3 variations of the class should cover much of what the original necromancer class could do but in a way that makes their impact on the battlefield more dynamic, direct, and approachable to more players.
- The current mechanic involving the invulnerable Necromancer shade controlling and exclusively acting through their pet is no longer part of the class. The class will still be a unique, largely pet-based class but the aforementioned pet-dynamic will no longer exist and instead the Necromancer itself will use powerful new forms and abilities to act out its will directly on the battlefield.
- These three forms or shapeshifts are augmented by their respective spec-line and also augment the abilities within their spec-line. We’ve tried to make them work seamlessly across all three specializations, and where appropriate, limited certain abilities (pets) to certain forms.
- The melee-oriented form clearly brings some new itemization questions into play. If specializing in the melee-oriented line, players will want to gain melee-related stats like quickness, constitution, hits, armor factor, melee damage, melee haste, and style damage as well as the casting stats they already desire. To make things easier on players, intelligence (and not strength) will be used as the main melee damage and weaponskill stat. Some of the abilities in the spec-line address this itemization need directly already and we’ll be introducing new items that accommodate this going forward.
Without further ado, we’re excited bring you the newly revamped Necromancer class!
Necromancers have been given full skill, realm, and champion ability respecs to accommodate the changes below. Master level abilities will automatically update upon login, without needing to respec.

A new shapeshift has been added to the following level:

Become a Ghostly Spirit. 10% of all damage taken is converted to power, your power regeneration is greatly increased, and you see hidden opponents much easier. Additionally, your servants gain new, powerful abilities and new forms of their own.
- Pet’s resistances are increased by 55% while the Necromancer is shifted into Spirit Form. Does not stack with Cleric/Friar resists.
- Pets retain all of their normal form bonuses and abilities in addition to whatever new abilities they gain from their unique spirit forms.
- Exiting Spirit Form will cause the active pet to also relinquish its spirit form and return to normal.
- Spirit Form is essentially a chant, and will drop on pets should the Necromancer become stunned or mezzed for too long. It will also drop if the pet is out of range of their master. It will immediately reactive after meeting the correct requirements.
-
Pets now level with their controller and no longer have a maximum level. This means that pets will always match the level of their user. A level 25 Necromancer will summon a level 25 pet, and a level 50 Necromancer will summon a level 50 pet. This will also apply to all controlled pets for all pet classes (Enchanter, Animist, Spiritmaster, Bonedancer, Cabalist, Necromancer). This will not affect sub-pets or fire and forget pets.
- For all pets, abilities now scale with their controller. As the player grows stronger, so do the pet’s abilities. This means that a level 5 pet may have a 10 point AF buff, while a level 35 pet summon from the same spell has a 75 point AF buff (just an example).
- Pets are only summonable while the Necromancer is human, in Decrepit Form, or Spirit Form. Necromancers in Chthonic Form cannot summon pets, and those who summon pets and then switch to Chthonic Form will immediately lose their pets.
