Army of the Seelie

As directed by Vinry, I write this report after our first expedition into the unknown portal.

Upon letter read to me by Nara Manastrong that a more detailed accounting was needed of these dire happenings and the return of our ancient queen, I set out without delay to Tir Na Nog. As you ordered I spoke with Vinry, resident of the chamber of magic, and at his request made preparations to travel to Darkness Falls to find and retrieve the spiritual conduit of a succubus. While in years past I have hunted succubi with only one companion and even alone, I quickly learned that assembling a group or even a battlegroup was the most effective way to fulfill Vinry's request due to the constant raiding from other realms that we continued to face during our quest and as even the succubi themselves have gained some unknown strength.

After hunting the winged demonics and obtaining a spiritual conduit, I set out to meet Nara Manastrong at her post in the Bog of Cullen where she had remained guard outside Cliodna's portal. Again thanking the Wyvern for assistance, I arrived and spoke to Nara, presenting her with the spiritual conduit. She spoke to me of reports she had, originating from beyond the threatening portal, and of her desire to have me assist Master Zedde who had traveled through to act as an expert on all things magical.

I attempted to enter the portal, but was stopped by several of Cliodna's agents who closed to me before I was through. It appears Cliodna has given her surrogates some measure of power that they can see from a distance even the most skillful in the way of stealth. Please convey this alarming development to Mavelle and Blathnaid in Tir na Nog, I know not what can be done but warn those of us who rely on the way of stealth to be vigilant of this powerful magic. Thankfully allies were nearby and answered my call. When we were free of the Siabra agents I entered the portal along with those of us nearby. I write then of what we saw, for it appeared as we pressed on that we did so into the veil itself.

The fog was thick and the air damp with energy and magic long brooding. Master Zedde was waiting for us and greeted us accordingly, stressing his need of our assistance in opening a two-way portal between the worlds; that he needed our protection to complete the ritual. When we were ready to assist the Master, he began his ritual, walking purposefully between three portal stones he had erected near the exit to Cliodna's portal. We were almost immediately beset upon by the most intelligent of ghostly creatures, creatures targeting first any who provided aid to Master Zedde, and who focused secondly on any who did them harm. The ways of nature served us well for this task, providing healing to the Master and temporarily mesmerizing these creatures. After several assaults on our number from each direction by these ghostly creatures, the Master had completed his ritual and the remaining creatures departed or were quickly dispatched.

Speaking to Master Zedde once more, he instructed us to seek out and kill the wandering Siabra Captain, as he feared for impending reinforcements that may close this hastily constructed portal. We therefore set out to the North, moving slowly into the dreary night of the world of dreams. We shortly encountered more of the Siabra, who attacked us on sight. Before long one in our number spotted the Siabra Captain, and made her attack by ranged bow. Again the ways of nature served us well, mesmerizing the additional Siabra that answered their Captain's call. Against them we prevailed, though not without injury. I report that the Siabra Captain was slain by one of our number and will threaten the portal no longer, but still we remain extremely cautious here, for I know with increasing certainty that this is not our realm at all.

Once the Siabra Captain was defeated we left no piece of him for Cliodna to reclaim, and the made our way back towards Master Zedde, probing the encroaching mist around us. To a point we could go no further; it was as if the veil itself was holding us back. In outlining our limited advance within this world in an effort to draw you a map, it became clear that we are in a dreamworld, perhaps the dreamworld, and that this dreamworld is not merely a reflection of our world. Please caution those who follow us that the way ahead is not clear, that even now the Siabra appear out of the mist from where we know not. Just now we lost another of our number.

We spoke again and more earnestly this time to Master Zedde, who thanked us warmly for our service, and who after brief consideration was able to provide us with strongly warded rings to assist us against this increasing threat.

With the help of the Seelie army we stand guard around this portal until the next chapter unfolds.

Colvae, your dedicated ranger.
